  • In the Beginning:

Kevin and I started out like any other couple.  We dated and decided to live together.  We had our ups and downs and we went through many obstacles just like any couple starting out.  However, for us, it was slightly different.  Our family, friends, colleagues and sometimes even people off the streets had their two cents to put into our relationship.  Not only did we have to understand each other's cultures, we had to put up with all the negativities that came with the territory of an interracial relationship.  We dealt with them, and now WE ARE TRULY HAPPY!

  • Five Years Later:

Often times we walk down the street and see a fellow B&A couple, we get excited.  We give them a knowing nod and acknowledgement.  We understand the difficulties of being in an interracial relationship.  We wanted to see if there are any other interracial couples out there going through the same experiences we are.  I mean, come on, we are a rare species.  How many B&As do you come across on an average day?

  • A little bit about us:

kev_and_jason.jpg (20204 bytes) (Kevin here with godson Jason) - Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Kevin and his family came to the United States when Kevin was just six.  Grew up in New York, Kevin attended Brooklyn Technology High School and City College.  For the last two years Kevin was at Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishing, a medical book publisher.  Kevin was in charge of publishing Low's books from beginning to end.  When we met five years ago, Kevin and I were both working for Warner Books.  During Kevin's spare time, he likes to listen to Roni Size and watch South Park.  During the summer of '99, Kevin and Diana's summer came to a short haul when Kevin, in-line blading in Central Park, fell and dislocated his shoulder.  After a long month's recovering, Kevin and Diana packed their bags and headed down to Jamaica for their first vacation abroad.  Kevin left Lippincott right before our trip to Taiwan.  Kevin works as a freelance computer networking consultant, as well as a fulltime Manufacturing Manager at Hungry Minds.

di_frontofourtree.jpg (31906 bytes)(Diana in front of our Christmas tree in '99) - Diana is Taiwanese.  Born and raised partially in Taiwan and partially in the New York, Diana first came to the States with her family when she was six.  Three years later, due to familial reasons, they moved back to Taiwan.  The family came back to the States three years later right before Diana was about to graduate from elementary school and stayed on ever since.  Diana and the family traves back to Taiwan often.  Currently Diana's a student at The New School of Social Research  and enjoys her academic career.  After leaving Warner Books Diana obtained a position with Shiseido Cosmetics.  Three years later, Diana left Shiseido to work for the National Association for Female Executive's marketing department.  Three months later Diana decided to leave corporate America altogether to concentrate on her academic career and work only part time.  Currently she's working with the Asian American Arts Alliance in SoHo.  In her spare time, Diana is the web master for this site.  Additionally, Diana is actively involved in not for profit organizations whose goals are to empower women and ethnic groups.  Diana has another website dealing with women's issues called Warrior Women.
